About TexFi
TexFi is four apps by one person. Not a startup, not a platform, not a "solution". Each one exists because nothing that fit was around: what I found either asked for an account to keep a list of habits, or sent my spending to someone else’s server, or pushed a file between two phones through a cloud in another country.
PRINCIPLES
Your data stays yours
Each app has its own database on the device and starts working with no sign-up: no login, no account, no cloud your records go to.
Nothing extra in the background
No analytics, no ad SDKs, no background "events". The app goes online when you ask it to: to check for an update or to send a file.
No marketing, no nagging
There will be no popup asking for a rating, no "we miss you" email, no subscription that turns itself on. The app either suits you or it does not — there is nothing to push.
Open source
Everything above is verified by reading the source, not by trusting this page. The repositories are open, the builds come from public CI on that same code, and the code itself is under the GNU AGPL v3: anyone shipping a modified version has to publish their changes.
WHAT EXISTS NOW
TexFi w0y
An open YouTube Music client. The track starts right away, and speed, pitch and reverb are set per song. Offline downloads, no ads, no telemetry.
TexFi f0kus
Session timer, habits with streaks, a mood log and statistics. It suggests a technique that suits today rather than assigning one for good.
TexFi m0ney
Accounts, categories, budgets and savings goals. Everything is calculated on the device: there is nowhere and no reason to connect a bank.
TexFi files
Files go device to device directly over the local network. There is no intermediate server in the picture that could keep them.
WHY IT LOOKS LIKE THIS
The pixel art here is not decoration or nostalgia for its own sake. The interface is built from squares with hard edges and a solid offset shadow — the way depth was drawn when there were three colours for it and no alpha channel at all. An interface like this cannot be mistaken for the next one, and it cannot be assembled from someone else’s icon set: every icon is drawn cell by cell in the app’s own code.
The animations on this site are the ones from the apps. The circular f0kus timer, the growing m0ney bars, the packet travelling between two nodes in files. None of them lasts longer than it takes to notice it.
